Pastor Peg Schultz-Akerson, Interim Pastor
We welcome as our Interim Pastor, the Rev. Margaret (Peg) Schultz-Akerson, lovingly known as Pastor Peg. She began among us as Interim Pastor at Lutheran Church of the Master on February 1, 2016 at the recommendation of the Bishop and the approval of the LCM Church Council.
Pastor Peg received both a BA and an MA Ed. from California Lutheran University, Thousand Oaks, a Master of Divinity from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary, Berkeley, and a Doctor of Ministry from Claremont School of Theology, Claremont. Her doctoral thesis was: Luther's Large Catechism and the Practice of Faith: Reading the Word with the Heart.
Currently Pastor Peg serves the Southwest CA Synod as Co-Chair of the Green Faith Team.
Through the ELCA Consultative Panel for Lutheran/Jewish Relations, of which Pastor Peg is a member, a new book will be released in March: Engaging Others – Knowing Ourselves: a Lutheran Calling in a Multi-Religious World. In January 2016, Pastor Peg was honored to be an Ecumenical Guest at an Annual Rabbinic Conference in Boulder, Colorado, speaking on The Holy Spirit in Judaism & Christianity with Rabbi Danan of New York.
Pastor Peg has served parishes in northern and southern California, has been blessed to serve as an Internship Supervisor for several Seminary Interns, and serves as a Retreat Leader in Southwest CA and Sierra Pacific Synods. Pastor Peg has served on boards of Ecumenical / Inter-religious groups in Santa Monica, Pasadena, Chico, CA, and serves as a California Lutheran University Convocator. Pastor Peg is a Certified Spiritual Director and Labyrinth Facilitator.
Pastor Peg and her husband Pastor Reg have two grown sons, Marty and Micah. Micah and his wife Meggie have a 10 month old son, Finn, the first grandchild. Peg and Reg share their home with Golden Retrievers Zuma and Tumba, and a house rabbit, Mosby. Pastor Peg loves roasting organic veggies, watching birds, and tending her National Wildlife Certified backyard habitat.
