We proudly support the work ELM who provide crucial administrative and personal support to publicly-identified lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer Lutheran pastors and church leaders, especially those preparing for ministry. Although our denomination, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, voted in August of 2009 to open its ministry policies to partnered gay and lesbian pastors, the ELCA continues to mature and heal and grow in diversity and inclusivity. ELM is an important ally to the ELCA in our continued growth as a LGBTQ welcoming Church.
ELM Today is a 6 minute video telling the stories of four LGBTQ seminarians and pastors and about the work of Extraordinary Lutheran Ministries. After the ELCA opened its doors to partnered lesbian and gay clergy in 2009, some people wondered if ELM was still necessary.
